John 14:15–18 15 “If you [really] love Me, you will keep and obey My commandments. 16 And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor—Counselor, Strengthener, Standby), to be with you forever— 17 the Spirit of Truth, whom the world cannot receive [and take to its heart] because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He (the Holy Spirit) remains with you continually and will be in you. 18 “I will not leave you as orphans [comfortless, bereaved, and helpless]; I will come [back] to you. In this sermon, we see that love and obedience are connected. The ‘if’, in the above scripture, gives us a direction of choice. The key is if we claim to love Him, we will obey His commandments. Our obedience is linked to love. Love is the ultimate expression of the divine power of God because God is love. If we want to be Christ like, we need to follow his commandments: To love Him and to love one another!
