The answer depends entirely on how you experience the country. In cities like Rome, Florence, Milan, and Naples, a car quickly becomes an unnecessary complication, with restricted traffic zones, limited parking, and an overall pace that is best enjoyed on foot or through well-connected transport. Even in destinations such as the Amalfi Coast, what appears romantic in theory often proves impractical in reality, where narrow roads, traffic, and logistics are better handled with private transportation.
