From a developer's perspective -

My thing has always been to try to be open about what you're happy with and what you're not happy with.

And I think a lot of people end up not touching that subject as much as they should, because it's like,

"Oh, I'm not supposed to really talk about that -

I don't want to make my employer think I'm not happy."

And there are some realistic concerns there for sure.

You don't want to be worried about losing your job, so you want to be careful what you say.

I get that.

But I think the people that do the best are the ones that are more open about how they're feeling, and have open and honest discussions with their manager or boss.

A good, strong two-way dialogue on things is so important.

If a conversation isn't already happening, you will often need to be the one who speaks up first.
