The SituationIsrael needed godly leadership. Judges 21:25
God used a nobody from a family of nobodies to be an answer to this problem. 1 Samuel 1:1-2
The Impact1 Samuel 1:4-8
Elkanah gave her a double portion or he gave her only one portion.
Regardless, Peninnah tormented Hannah.
This happened every year. 1 Samuel 1:7
It affected her marriage, her physical and mental health, her marriage, and possibly her relationship with God.
The Emotions1 Samuel 1:9-18
The bitterness of soul is desperation. It is the feeling of abandonment.
Bitterness results in hostility toward others. Peninnah? Elkanah? God?
When you feel like God has abandoned you, the only way you can turn is toward God. Matthew 27:45-46;
Luke 23:46
Jesus taught about persistent prayer. Matthew 7:7
and Luke 18:1-7
1 Samuel 1:19
Samuel means “God has heard.”
God is omniscient. He hears everything, at all times, and with equal volume.
God shows He cares by saying “No” and by saying “Yes.” Romans 8:28
God answered the prayer of a nation by answering the prayer of a nobody.
