Lack of stimulation is one of the causes of speech delay but overall parenting style doesn’t impact a child’s speech and language development.
There are 4 parenting styles -
1. Authoritarian - these are more like disciplinarians, high expectations, low flexibility, one-way communication, super strict.
2. Permissive - more like friends instead of being parents, child driven, limited guidance, low expectations, super lenient.
3. Uninvolved - less interested or unsure about parenting, limited communication, no discipline style, no expectations.
4. Authoritative - reasonable, nurturing, frequent communication, high and clear expectations, and the most beneficial style for children.
Any of these styles will cause to set a particular behaviour but would not impact speech development.
Please don’t blames parents wrongly for a child’s developmental delays. Every parent dreams and wants their child to be a star and it is disheartening to see their child struggling for something completely out of their control.
