Throughout the year numerous couples embark on the love train of marriage. Starting off with  engagement  plans to move towards a ceremonious gathering to celebrate their union. Couples can spend from a few thousand dollars upwards to over a hundred thousand dollars. Consider this Wayne Rooney & Coleen McLoughlin spent $8 million on their wedding, while Prince Charles & Diana spent $110 million. 

So why do people spend so much on weddings and rings? Some would say women see this day as a reflection of  her mates love, confirmation for others and a day of celebration. On the other hand, men see the ring as a confession of their love, but the ceremony is more of showcase for the bride.

Additionally we must ask ourselves is the excessive cost of weddings/engagement rings going to have a positive or negative impact on the success or failure of the relationship. This does not come up in most conversations as many couples are primarily focused on the planning, while avoiding the impact of the cost.
