Does the Bible Say That? (Week 3: Judging)

Listen Later

The concept of judgment in Christianity often creates confusion, particularly regarding when and how it should be applied. While the Old Testament was characterized by law and judgment, Jesus introduced grace, leading many churches to adopt a no-judgment culture. However, First Corinthians 5 provides clear guidance on biblical judgment, specifically addressing situations within the church community.Scripture makes an important distinction about who should be subject to judgment. While non-believers and new Christians should not be judged, mature believers who claim to follow Christ but live contrary to biblical teachings should be held accountable. This judgment must come from a place of love, always point toward redemption, and begin with private conversations. The focus should remain on restoration rather than condemnation.Proper biblical judgment serves multiple purposes within the church community. It prevents false security, maintains accountability, protects church integrity, and helps believers grow in their faith. When implemented correctly, this creates an environment of authentic Christianity where members can grow together, face sin collectively, and support each other's spiritual journey.
