On today's episode of Doing Good: The Podcast...empowering women with a washing machine, a stack of diapers, and an unending flow of unconditional love. Today our guest us Stacy Larsen who runs the river ministry for women in downtown Johnson City.
For more than two decades, this remarkable source of good has helped women and children in a very unique way. By providing a place where women can wash their clothes, get a shower, and find critical supplies for themselves and their children, the river has been a stream of blessing for thousands who needed a helping hand.
Our hope is that, as you hear how a few people with a dream built something amazing, you’re inspired to get involved or to do something similar where you are.

Strike up the band! After a year and a half of being silenced, live music is back. And music is so good for the soul. But for those who make the music, getting back on stage has proven to be a difficult journey. Today our guest is Rob Seebacher, conductor of the Johnson City Symphony Orchestra, one of the great regional symphony‘s in the Southeast. They’ve dazzled crowds for decades, and now they are trying to rebuild after the breathtaking impact of the pandemic. You’re about to hear how they are working to bring excellent music back to the concert hall and how musicians need our help to make it happen. We hope this conversation inspires you to support the arts by supporting the artists who make the magic happen.

Hitting the road to stop a pandemic.
After a rush to get the vaccine - now communities are dealing with complacency.
Some firmly don't want the vaccine. Others are undecided.
But in the heart of central appalachia - a group called Region Ahead is uniting the region with a caravan of vans.
As you're about to hear - they doing more than delivering shots.
We think they're offering healing and hope. Hear from Lottie Ryans from the First Tennessee Development District on today's episode of Doing Good.

What are you going to be when you grow up?
It's one of the first questions we ask our kids. Some of us are still trying to figure out the answer several decades later.
For some, it's as easy as choosing a major or following a dream. But for many, identifying a vocational path can be one of life's biggest challenges.
Today - the Doing Good gang learns more about an unique program called "Interyear Fellowship".
Listen along as we discover how young adults are moving to the mountains of Appalachia and devoting themselves to something radical - a life of service and community and even a life of silence as they figure out what's next while loving people they meet every day.
Whether you're 16 or 60 - we think you're about to get a clearer vision of what it means to Do Good while you do your job.... whatever that may be. And we think you'll be inspired to re-evaluate the WHY behind what you do.... and look for new ways you can do some good wherever you are.

Home. It's where the heart is.
A trite saying...unless you've ever not had a home and then, well, it's the gospel truth.
For many, a home of their own remains an unattainable dream.
But Habitat for Humanity is working to fix that.
Today - the Doing Good gang rolls up their sleeves and learns more about the organization started by a couple in rural Georgia in the mid-1970's.
Now, that idea has spread across the country and even around the world.
We'll learn more about Habitat for Humanity at work specifically in Central Appalachia where people are breaking the cycle of poverty and partnering with volunteers to build their own homes.
Since 1985, Holston Habitat for Humanity has built homes for more than 300 families in Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia.
You'll hear how the work has kept going despite the pandemic.
And along the way - we think you'll be inspired to look for creative new ways to help people where you live know what it truly means to say welcome... home.
