Cardiologist Dr. Fahmi Farah comes from a culture where women are not typically encouraged to be leaders. Yet, that’s the story here. Dr. Farah’s strong will to become a doctor began when she witnessed first-hand a lineage of heart disease that prematurely took the lives of many family members.
Fahmi comes from a lineage of strong women including her grandmother and her mother. Her mother was one of the first female supreme court lawyers in Bangladesh and has instilled a strong sense of leadership and independence in her. Today Fahmi runs her own Bentley Heart Medical Institute – named after her beloved dog.
We talked about her life in NY as a gifted child who sang beautifully and discovered her artistic talent, while at the same time never losing site of her goal – to become a doctor. Now she’s taken this passion to the world stage as a founding director for Global Health Alliance – a platform focused on healthcare, education, human rights, women empowerment and disaster management.
