Bernadette is a 22-year veteran of the U.S. Army, having retired in 2007 as a Chief Warrant Officer 3 (CW3). She served during Operation Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom.
She currently leads the Houston Service Platoon. During the Martin Luther King Jr. Legacy of Service, her service project at Youngblood Intermediate School saw more than 500+ volunteers, the largest participation out of more than 46 projects that happened nationwide.
