Sometimes investing seems like a making a pack with the devil. You hate cigarettes, but you like investing for retirement in a passive broad market index fund because it is cheap, relatively safe and provides good returns over the long run even though one of its holdings is a tobacco company. You don't like fossil fuels, booze and defense contractors, but then again those companies are in the index too. What to do?
