Hola, Queridos Hivers!
Hoy les traigo el cuento de mi primera vez dirigiendo un coro, y no en una sala de ensayo!
Desde que mi mamá y yo empezamos a ir a la iglesia, estuvimos paseando por diferentes horarios, hasta que fuimos a la misa de las 5pm y conocimos al coro encargado de cantar: Ecalisja.
Es más común ver coros cantando canciones populares, como pescador de hombres por ejemplo, sin embargo este coro estaba cantando música sacra en latin!
Eso me recordó mucho a mi coro de Cumaná, me puse muy nostálgica.
En ese momento no me acerqué ni nada, pero en la misa siguiente, no pude evitarlo!
Me acerqué a saludar y a pedir información sobre cómo entrar, y el director muy amablemente me invitó a asistir a su ensayo del próximo domingo, al cual asistí, y así poco a poco me fui integrando al coro.
Hace una semana la Ecalisja se fue de viaje a Barquisimeto, Lara. Les fue muy bien gracias a Dios, pero como yo no pude viajar, me pregunté cómo sería la movida ese domingo, ya que muchos de nuestros compañeros ni el director estarían.
Al expresar esta duda, el director me confió los pocos integrantes que no podían viajar y me asignó un repertorio para llevar a cabo la misa... como directora.
Estaba muy nerviosa!
Ese día solo fui yo y otras dos compañeras. Hicimos algo sencillo, pero a la gente le gustó! Yo quedé un poco angustiada porque tuvimos unos percances, pero Dios me dió otra oportunidad para hacerlo mejor!
Este domingo, el director estaba de cumpleaños, y dudaba poder asistir ya que su familia estaba planeando una pequeña celebración, así que días antes me llamó y me preguntó si una vez más podía dirigir el coro. Yo le dije que si, nerviosa pero dispuesta a cumplir con Dios y con la agrupación!
Así que el domingo me fui temprano a la iglesia, y poco a poco iban llegando mis compañeros. Juntos decimos entre las opciones de repertorio que nos había mandado el director, practicamos cómo daría los tonos a cada cuerda y en qué momentos de la misa nos tocaba cantar, y a la hora, entramos al templo.
Hicimos el canto de entrada, y después del Kyrie y el Gloria, ya me bajaron los nervios y disfruté mucho de la dirección, la música y de la misa.
Todos mis compañeros fueron muy buenos conmigo, me ayudaron a hacer las cosas bien y me apoyaron mucho! Eso fue muy importante para mi.
Agradecida con Dios, con ellos, con el director por su confianza y contigo por leer! 💜

Today I'm sharing the story of my first time leading a choir, and not in a rehearsal room!
Since my mom and I started going to church, we tried different mass times, until we went to the 5pm mass and met the choir that sang: Ecalisja.
It's more common to see choirs singing popular songs, like "Fisherman of Men," for example, however this choir was singing sacred music in Latin!
It reminded me a lot of my choir in Cumaná; I got very nostalgic.
At that moment I didn't approach them or anything, but at the next mass, I couldn't resist!
I went over to say hello and ask about joining, and the director very kindly invited me to attend their next Sunday rehearsal, which I did, and little by little I became part of the choir.
A week ago, Ecalisja went on a trip to Barquisimeto, Lara. They did very well, thank God, but since I couldn't travel, I wondered what would happen that Sunday, since many of our members and the director wouldn't be there.
When I expressed this concern, the director entrusted me with the few members who couldn't travel and assigned me a repertoire to lead during mass... as the director.
I was very nervous!
That day it was just me and two other members. We did something simple, but people liked it! I was a little worried because we had some mishaps, but God gave me another opportunity to do better!
This past Sunday, the director's birthday was, and he wasn't sure he could attend since his family was planning a small celebration, so a few days before he called me and asked if I could lead the choir again. I told him yes, nervous but willing to serve God and the group!
So on Sunday I went to church early, and my choir members arrived little by little. Together we chose from the repertoire options the director had sent us, we practiced how to cue each vocal section, and at what points during mass we would sing, and at the appointed time, we entered the church. We sang the entrance hymn, and after the Kyrie and Gloria, my nerves calmed down and I really enjoyed the music, the service, and the overall atmosphere. All my fellow singers were so kind to me; they helped me do everything right and supported me so much! That was very important to me.
I am grateful to God, to them, to the music director for his trust, and to you for reading this! 💜
