Moments after Kyle Fletcher’s successful title defense, Don Callis delivered a backstage message aimed squarely at New Japan Pro Wrestling. Callis opened by tying Fletcher’s win over Tomohiro Ishii to a bigger mission: “I’m so happy that Kyle Fletcher has beaten the great ishii and embarked on his own journey to become the greatest TNT champion of all time to fulfill the destiny of Kyle Fletcher. And it felt so good to me to beat a New Japan talent that I feel like I’d like a little more.”
Positioning himself as a longtime player in NJPW’s history, Callis continued, “You see, I had a big role to play in the success of New Japan several years ago. It’s why they gave me this one of a kind tie that I’m wearing tonight, because I’m feeling all things New Japan. In fact, let me send a little message out to the management team at New Japan Pro Wrestling.”
Then came the direct challenge and the when-and-where: “We’re gonna be here next week in Cincinnati. I would love it if you would send your best to face Kyle Fletcher.”

Callis ended with a threat and a promise: “What are you afraid of, New Japan? Send me someone for Kyle and after he’s done embarrassing them. I will take off this one of a kind tie and I will choke whoever you send into oblivion as Kyle Fletcher and I march on into history.”
