What exactly is masculinity and how does it define who you are? In this week’s episode, Alec and Matthew explore the topic of masculinity and uncover what being a “man” is really all about.  Today’s guest is Emmy nominated actor, social activist and motivational speaker, Dondre Whitfield and the author of the new book, “Male Vs. Man: How To Honor Women, Teach Children And Elevate Men To Change The World”.  The Hollywood Dad dives deep into the definition of toxic and hyper masculinity and reveals his most important role as a man.  As a “righteous” man and ally to the LGBTQ+ community, Dondre says he’s received flack for supporting them andadmits they are a marginalized group of people just like the black community.  Alec, who adopted a 5-year-old black boy 10 years ago, gets candid about the importance of having strong black role models in his son’s life and to participate in what he calls “blacktivities”.  As a mentor to black men, Dondre talks about sexual fluidity, labels within a new generation and why it’s perfectly ok for real men to hug each other (pre-Covid, of course)!
