The Health Minister has come under fire as she is unable to attending the annual Irish Medical Organisation AGM this week.
The conference is usually addressed by whoever is in the ministerial role, but Jennifer Carroll MacNeill has opted out.
A spokeswoman said she had “a long-standing personal commitment that predated her appointment as minister for health."
This year’s AGM also marks the end of Donegal-based GP Dr Denis McCauley’s one-year term as the organisation’s president.
Speaking to Ocean FM, he says while steps have been taken to help the sector, issues remain:
