It is a terrible thing to be despised by someone but it's even worse to let them get to you, the Bible says let no man despise your youth which means don't let anyone get you down or stop you from reaching your goals. The only time it matters what people say negatively about you is when you let their words have an effect on you, it is up to you to let negative words be effective or ineffective, I believe what God is telling us is never to let any negative words be effective in our lives.

The scriptures used are 1 Timothy 4:11-16, Mathew 18:10-14, 1 Peter 1: 13-16, 1 Corinthians 13: 4-9, Hebrews 11: 6, and Titus 2: 11-15.
