Unfortunately, most relationships people have in our society are transactional. “I will hang out with you because people will think I’m cooler.” “I will go to your dumbass cocktail party so you fund my next enterprise.” “I will be loyal to you so you do everything for me.” The fucked up part is that society’s view of these takers is conflicting. On one hand, we demonize those who outwardly take advantage of people. On the other hand, we reward people who put themselves first and dedicate their lives to their passions. Is it right to demonize takers and feel sorry for givers? Is it really the takers fault if the giver gives unconditionally? Most people would say yes to both of those questions. We have an inherent tendency to feel bad for the person who got the short end of the stick. Are givers so fragile that they need society’s protection? Why do we protect those who choose not to protect themselves? In today’s episode, the boys talk about givers standing up for themselves and taking control of their lives.
