2000 years ago, on the Sunday that we now call Palm Sunday, Jesus arrived in the city of Jerusalem. His entrance was an incredible spectacle, and the Jewish people were overjoyed to see Him. After all, this Jesus was the fulfillment of the hope they had placed in the promises that God had made to them centuries ago! As Jesus rode into the city, He was greeted with cheers and shouts of approval. It seemed like support for Jesus was a sure thing! Yet, a few short days later, the same crowd that was cheering for Him chose to crucify Him. In almost no time at all, they rejected Jesus and everything He had to say.

As we take a look at these events all those years ago, we're going to ask the question "How could they change their mind so quickly about Jesus?" It turns out that on Palm Sunday, the Jews were celebrating their Messiah- but they were celebrating the wrong Messiah. In preparation for Easter Sunday, we'll use what we learn from our study today to make sure that we don't make the same mistake. We want to make sure that we are celebrating the right Messiah - Jesus, who takes away the sin of the world.
