DON’T FORGET YOU’RE IN A FIGHT - GALATIANS Part 5
It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.
Galatians 5:1
RULES | REBELLION
You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh;
Galatians 5:13
Rather, serve one another humbly in love. For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”
Galatians 5:13-14
So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh.
Galatians 5:16-17
They are in conflict with each other. . . .
Galatians 5:17
The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like.
Galatians 5:19-21
I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.
Galatians 5:21
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.
Galatians 5:22-23
DON’T FORGET YOU’RE IN A FIGHT
The battle is spiritual.
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the . . . the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
Ephesians 6:12
The enemy is internal.
[E]ach person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed. Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin;
and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.
James 1:13-14
The fight is winnable.
[P]ut on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground.
Ephesians 6:12-13
Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
Galatians 5:24
Death is the doorway to life.
The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.
Galatians 5:6
Faith is the path to freedom.
Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.
Galatians 5:25
The Spirit is the source for life.
