Every time you’re offended, you have a choice. And when the offender is your teen the choice is all-important!

In more than three decades of living and working with kids, I’ve been disappointed, disobeyed and lied to. I’ve been taken advantage of, stolen from and ridiculed. And while it hurts every time, I realize that I have a choice in that moment of pain. If I walk away from the relationship, I’m letting the teen’s actions determine the type of relationship we’ll have. But, if I stick with em’, forgive, and work through it we’ll have a bright future together.

Next time your son or daughter does something to hurt or disrespect you, think carefully about your choice. Will you give up and stop the relationship? Or will you hang in there, and get stronger together?
