No one enjoys being corrected, but there is grave danger in hardening one's heart at reproof. Israel had been intolerant of correction for too long and judgment was now coming. In Exodus, God had passed through Egypt in judgment and He passed over Israel in mercy. In Amos, God will pass through Israel as He brings judgment.

We must humble ourselves before God and harden not our hearts at His correction.
