How many of you have experienced this scenario: Your mom or dad has sat you down and is instructing you on how to do something, but then stops in the middle of the instruction to say “are you even listening to me?” To which many of you would reply “Yes I’m listening” your parent then goes on to keep talking. They finish and then send you off to do the task, to which, surprise surprise, you heard your mom/dad, but you weren’t actually listening. So now you’ve run into the problem, you need to go ask them again about what they were talking about. You heard but then forgot what you needed to know.

Now this is a scenario many of us have experienced or will experience. It’s not enough to just hear something. We need to be active listeners of God’s word. And I want us to cover another lesson from James, so we are going to turn to James 1:22-25. We covered this in a very simple sense for the Snow camp recap.
