Gerritt recalls earning his first aid merit badge as an eagle scout some 30 years ago. To this day he can remember the first aid order of priority; breathing, bleeding, shock and wound. Gerritt found that using this structured, order of operations approach during his time in law enforcement took a lot of pressure off in chaotic situations. It wasn’t until later he realized he could deploy it in other areas, like his marriage, to start to combat the chaos that had snuck in.
