Don't Let Your Issues Be A Stumbling Block

Don’t Let Your Issues Become Your Stumbling Block
There was something powerful that came to my spirit recently, and it was a reminder that many of us need to hear: Don’t let your issues become the reason you stop walking in the purpose God placed on your life. One of the greatest tricks of discouragement is convincing us that because we have flaws, struggles, or past mistakes, we are somehow disqualified from moving forward. But the truth is that God already knows we are imperfect. None of our struggles surprise Him. None of our weaknesses catch Him off guard. God knew every problem we would face long before we ever encountered it. Yet even knowing all of that, He still placed a purpose on our lives. Sometimes we get stuck in a cycle where we keep reminding ourselves of what is wrong with us. We replay our mistakes over and over in our minds. We dwell on the things we wish we had done differently. Instead of moving forward, we stay trapped in regret. But what God was ministering to me is that we were never meant to live in that place. Yes, we must acknowledge when we have done wrong. Yes, we should correct our behavior and strive to grow. But recognizing a mistake and living under the weight of that mistake are two completely different things. God does not want our past to become the obstacle that keeps us from our future. We are human. There will always be something in our lives that needs work. There will always be an area where we are learning, growing, or being corrected. That is part of the journey of faith. Spiritual growth does not mean perfection; it means progress. When we fall short, the goal is not to sit in shame or constantly remind ourselves of how we failed. The goal is to learn from it. Ask God for guidance. Make the change that needs to be made. Then continue walking forward. God is not standing over us keeping a list of every mistake we have ever made just so He can bring it back up later. Instead, He is looking at what we are becoming. He sees the transformation that is taking place. He sees the growth that is happening in our hearts, even when we cannot see it ourselves. What matters most is where we are now and what we learned from what happened. Too many people stop pursuing their purpose because they feel unworthy after making mistakes. But if everyone in the Bible had quit after their failures, we would have very few stories left to read. Many of the people God used greatly had flaws, weaknesses, and moments where they fell short. Yet God still used them because they were willing to get back up and continue walking. That is the key: getting back up. Life will happen.

Mistakes will happen. Situations will happen that we never expected. But none of those things should become the stumbling block that keeps us from continuing our walk with Christ. If something happened, then it happened. Learn from it. Grow from it. Give it to God and keep moving forward. Your past does not cancel your purpose. God wants us to become better. He wants us to grow and mature spiritually. But He also wants us to understand that our journey with Him is not about being perfect—it is about being faithful. So don’t let your issues stop you. Don’t let regret trap you. Don’t let yesterday control tomorrow. Keep walking. Keep growing. Keep trusting God. Because the most important thing is not what happened before—it is what you do with the life God has given you right now.
