If there's one thing I can give you as the parent to 4 children, DO NOT LIE TO THEM. 

Right now, you are competing for your children's attention.  

They have iPads, cell phones, TV, and the irritating brats of other people in school filling their heads with ideas. 

In order to maintain the flow of information, in and out of their minds, I tell them if they ever want to know something, come ask me.

I told them, "I'll never lie to you.  I'm your Dad."

If you don't need to know, then I'll tell you why, but if there's something you want to know, you're going to have to be prepared to live in the world after learning this information and be an adult. 

When you do this, you're preserving your relationship from despair, especially if they know they can trust you, but if they discover you lied to them, it's game over. 

Your children will be the hardest on you than ever. 

Tell them the truth. 

Always. 

Don't leave it out there to be interpreted or permit the rest of the world to control the narrative of what they believe to be true. 

This is one good way to keep your family unit in tact and on the same track!
