At funerals, people assure one another “he’s in a better place”, “her suffering is over”, “he’s with God now”. Our general default perception is that if I’ve been sincere in my religion, and morally good, God will welcome me in. But Jesus there are people who think they will be in heaven who will not. Not because they have not been invited, but because they have refused the invitation. And Jesus wants us to understand why.
