Proverbs 4:7
Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding.

In the early ’90s, Miami bass was heard booming down the boulevard shaking the whole block—and ended up rattling the halls of Congress. In 1992, Luther Campbell aka “Uncle Luke” and 2 Live Crew dropped I Wanna Rock, the song was a fast pace dancefloor favorite punctuated by the popular ad-lib:
“Don’t stop—get it, get it.”
That phrase became electric. As iconic as “Throw ya hands in the air” on the East Coast or “West Side” out West. But the song also sparked outrage. In 1992, Senate hearings lit up over “obscene” rap lyrics. CDs were bulldozed in protests. Preachers, politicians, and pundits pointed fingers at rap as a corrupting influence. The controversy eventually wound up before the U.S. Supreme Court in Campbell v. Acuff-Rose (1994), where 2 Live Crew argued their track was a parody of Roy Orbison’s Pretty Woman and thus protected under fair use.
Although to my generation, “Don’t Stop-Get it Get it” will forever be associated with raunchy cat-call energy; would you believe that Proverbs demands that same relentless pursuit??
Proverbs 4:7 (NKJV):
“Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting…don’t stop, get understanding.”
OK I added that in, but more than money, more than fame, more than power—wisdom is the real prize. And “understanding” means not just repeating a proverb, but standing under its banner—living by the code that gave the sages their strength.
The whole world chases noise, speed, and quick hacks that offer surface wins. But Proverbs says: don’t stop with shiny trophies. Keep going deeper. Layer it. Live it. Integrate it. Because wisdom isn’t a one-time grab—it’s a lifelong pursuit. Forever acquiring. Forever reviewing. Forever applying. Forever getting it…
And here’s the good news: you don’t have to grind alone. James 1:5 promises, “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God…” No paywalls. No tolls. Wisdom is a gift—freely given. You just gotta want it…and pursue it…and when you get it…you know what to do!
Always Remember
“Don’t stop at knowing—get wisdom. Don’t stop at having—get understanding. Don’t stop—at keeping–give it away. And start all over again.
Prayer
Lord, keep me chasing Your wisdom—never stopping, always pursuing.

* What is it teaching me?
* Where do I resist it?
* How can I live it today?
Then share it—text it, post it, or tell a friend. Don’t stop—you gotta get it, get it!
