I didn't think that learning all of that stuff was important because someday I would have a manager that took care of it all for me.  

Well, as I got a few years deeper into my career, I realized my music was really good but I wasn't getting anywhere with it. I didn't really gain any new fans or make any money from my music which sucked. The reason I wasn't making any progress in those areas is because I never took the time to learn the business.
