Everyone of us will suffer in this life. Peter wants to prepare believers for suffering and encourage believers in the midst of suffering. Suffering reminds us that this world is not our home so we can rejoice in the glory that is to be revealed on the last day. Christians will be rewarded for their labors and their suffering for Christ on this earth. In the meantime, God's Spirit is present with us. We can be assured that God is refining us through our suffering. Thus, we are called entrust ourselves to our faithful Creator.
