Worry can feel like a really minor sin and not a big deal, but when left unchecked, it can have devastating effects. People who struggle with worry often have trouble sleeping and experience fatigue, indigestion, ulcers, and heart palpitations. Proverbs 12:25 says, "Anxiety in a man's heart weighs him down." Worrying about a situation is a little like a hamster running on a wheel. You spend a lot of energy, but you don't actually go anywhere or accomplish anything. Worrying distracts us from what God is doing. We become so preoccupied with the temporal things of life that we actually lose focus and trust in God. Worrying denies who God is and takes Him off the throne, putting you there in His place. Worrying says you have the answers, and the outcome depends on you.
