Paul had founded the Corinthian congregation in 51 CE and taught there for 1 ½ years, then he left to continue spreading the gospel. After he left, “hucksters” came in and elevated themselves above Paul and his teachings. Now, Paul is about to return and deal with those infiltrators who have created conflict both within the congregation and between Paul and the congregation.
