Living” and “stone” are essentially antonymous, so what did Peter mean when he spoke of believers as “living stones?” How can something as dead as a stone ever be described as “living?” Was he thinking of unbelievers as “zombies,” i.e. the living dead, or did he have a very different thought in mind?
