Doug King has managed numerous large-scale international and domestic healthcare projects in his architectural and project management career. In Chicago alone, he has completed more than $1.3 billion worth of projects for some of the city’s most well-known hospital systems, including two mega-hospital projects that have won international acclaim: Northwestern Memorial Hospital Feinberg/Galter Pavilion (2.1 million square feet, $732 million), which won the ACHA Legacy Project Award in 2016, and the Prentice Women’s Hospital (945,000 square feet, $330 million).  

Most recently, King played an instrumental role in the rapid conversion of the McCormick Place Convention Center into a 3,000-bed capacity alternate care medical facility in the wake of an anticipated spike in the city’s COVID-19 cases—a transformation that occurred within 25 days. In recognition of his expertise, King is helping craft the new U.S. healthcare standards addressing Emergency Response for the FGI Guidelines, a national healthcare design standard.
