Down Home Cajun Music- J' Ai Ete Au Bal

On this episode we explore the history of one of Cajun Music's most familiar songs. First recorded version was in January of 1929 by Bertrand & Pitre (Rabbit Stole The Pumpkin), later in the same year, Soileau and Robin recorded their take on the melody, (Je T'Ai Recontre Dans Le Brouillard). In the same year Babineaux & Guidry recorded yet another take on the melody, (J' Vai Jouer Celea Pour Toi). While many believe that Iry Lejeune recorded the first commonly known version of "I Went To The Dance", we know for certain that Joe Falcon's 1934 version is the first (Ne Buvez Plus Jamais). Later in 1938 J.B. Fuselier recorded his take on the song as "Chere Te Te". During the 1950's, Nathan recorded his version as "Point De Lou" and Lawrence used the melody for "Johnny Can't Dance". And from there it has continued on..
