*Main Point: As Christ’s covenant community, the church is responsible to rid itself of immorality.
I. Immorality (in this case, sexual) in the church should be mourned and dealt with rather than tolerated (vv. 1-2).
II. In Christ, the church should excommunicate an immoral person, in hope of restoration/salvation (vv. 3-5).
III. Individual immorality infects the church, contrary to its nature and calling (vv. 6-8).
IV. We can expect immorality in the world, but we should not tolerate it in the church (vv. 9-13).
