We live in a world where everything is moving online and nothing is sacred. We have all of these problems with viruses, malware, spyware, and ransomware. It can cause you a lot of problems if you get infected by one of these.
Viruses have been around for a while and so has malware. Spyware sends info from your device without you even realizing it. The worst though is ransomware.
Ransomware encrypts all of your files and then asks for money (usually bitcoin or gift cards) to unlock your files. There is a ticking time limit before everything is gone. This is why it is called ransomware.
I recommend that you install anti-X software where the "X" means Anti-Virus, Malware, Spyware, and Ransomware. None of them will protect you 100%. And not all of them include ransomware detection. Having this will reduce the risk you have.
You want to protect your computing devices against these unfortunate issues.
A couple of programs I recommend are Webroot or Symantec Norton. You can choose from one of the many other options, though I would caution you to read their reviews and ensure they also include ransomware.
Also ensure you update this software on a regular basis.
