Outside of medicine, Cara is an accomplished athlete and competitive cyclist, racing on Team Bikenetic in the cyclocross category 2 and mountain bike category 1. She has also competed in the US Adventure Racing National Championship in 2014 and has participated in other competitive disciplines such as marathons, ultra-marathons, triathlons, gravel cycling, and classic cross-country skiing. When she's not competing or working, Cara enjoys backpacking, Alpine skiing and touring, skate skiing, and walking her Redtick Coonhound.
