Dr. Pixley is an Arkansas native and grew up on a poultry, beef, and dairy farm in the state's northwest corner. He attended the University of Arkansas and completed a bachelor's degree in biological engineering after completing his master's and doctorate in Poultry Science. During his Ph.D., he worked with two professors from the University of Arkansas to build a start-up company to market some of the technologies developed during his graduate career. Dr. Pixley now works with Novozymes as a senior manager in the animal health and nutrition division.
