In this episode, we’re joined by Dr Hazel Ponton for a conversation about building design management, construction careers, and the social side of project team design meetings.
Hazel joined Northumbria University as a Senior Lecturer in Construction Project Management in 2011, following a 10-year career as a Construction Manager in the north of England. Before moving into academia, she worked with Balfour Beatty and Laing O’Rourke on a range of construction projects.
We talk about Hazel’s route into design management, her experience of being the only woman on a construction site, and how her research explores the social interactions that shape project team design meetings.
