Show Notes:

On this episode of The Women with Fire Podcast, Sarah interviews Dr. Jennifer Finlayson Fife, who specializes and has studied sexuality.

Jennifer tells of her story, and talks about how she always asked questions even as an adolescent. She talks about why and how she came to pursue the field of sexuality and why she decided to study women in the church and sexuality for her doctoral discourse.

Jennifer dives deep into some new ideas, what progression looks like, and why it's okay to be open minded to topics that are often "taboo" in the Church.

She also gives her ideas on a better way to approach sexuality when we are raising kids. There is a way to direct them to make smart choices about their sexuality without shaming them, or supercharging their curiosity which can often lead down a negative path.

Quotes:

"It's alright for you to struggle with some of these questions, and stand up for what you honestly believe is right." -Dr. Jennifer Finlayson

"We want the idea that we've gotten all the answers and it's all right here for us, and all we need to do is obey sufficiently, and all will be well, but I think that's the slothful servant idea." -Dr. Jennifer Finlayson

"We're taught that we're in this progression to become God's ourselves. God's are actors, creators, they have achieved wisdom, not just compliance." -Dr. Jennifer Finlayson

"Teaching our children integrity is really important. It's the one that really always wins. Compliance is much weaker." -Dr. Jennifer Finlayson
