Dr. Julie Curtis is the UK's leading research specialist on Bulgakov. She is a fellow of Wolfson College, Oxford and her recent publications include "Manuscripts Don't Burn: Mikhail Bulgakov, a Life in Letters and Diaries" and "Bulgakov's Last Decade: The Writer as Hero".

John Hodge’s blistering new play depicts a lethal game of cat and mouse through which the appalling compromises and humiliations inflicted on any artist by those with power are held up to scrutiny. Alex Jennings played Bulgakov and Simon Russell Beale played Stalin in the 2011 production.
