Dr. Michael Leo Owens joins the podcast to discuss his new book project 'Prisoners of Democracy'. Dr. Owens is an Associate Professor of Political Science at Emory University.  Prisoners of Democracy discusses the ways in which public policy hinders the restoration of formerly imprisoned people as full citizens and the collateral consequences of incarceration.  Further, Dr. Owens book focuses on the victories of reform towards formerly incarcerated individuals at the local, state, and national level.
