  • God has spoken - 2 Timothy 3:10-17

This morning we begin a new sermon series entitled, "Sola Scriptura." Over the next 12 weeks we will examine the major doctrines of the Bible using the Baptist Faith & Message 2000 as a general guide. We begin with the Doctrine of the Word of God as it is the foundational source of all truth. Scripture text is 2 Timothy 3:10-17. Also, see 2 Peter 1:16-21.

  • My Eyes Have Seen the King - Isaiah 6:1-8

Today we celebrate 91 years at Berlin Baptist Church with a special homecoming worship gathering. Rev. Bryant Sims from the SC Baptist Convention shares the Word of God with us from Isaiah 6:1-8. In a moment of transition in earthly leadership, God blesses Isaiah with a fresh, new vision of the throne in Heaven, more particularly, He who is seated upon it. After this transformational vision, Isaiah has but one appropriate response: "Here am I. Send me." May we respond likewise having beheld the glory and majesty of the most high God.

  • Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it - Nehemiah 13:1-31

Today we complete our study verse by verse through the book of Nehemiah. We have learned many things throughout our studies in Ezra and Nehemiah, perhaps none more critical than the principle of perseverance through submission to God. Nehemiah has been a case study in submission to God in prayer. This practice has demonstrated time and again the invaluable importance of prioritizing God's will and ways over our own. Scripture text is Nehemiah 13:1-31.

  • Celebrate what God has done - Nehemiah 12:27-47

This morning we continue our study verse by verse through the book of Nehemiah. The wall around Jerusalem has been completed and now it is time to dedicate the work to the Lord. Before the wall can be dedicated, however, the people and all the work must be purified. The Word of God is followed and the Lord himself gives fills all the people with great joy. Scripture text is Nehemiah 12:27-47.

  • God of this City - Nehemiah 11:1-12:26

We continue our study verse by verse through the book of Nehemiah only to find another section of Scripture filled with lists of names. The listing of names is important to the narrative because God saw fit to mention them in the text. The wall has been completed. The people of God have heard the word of God, leading them to confess their sins and to renew the covenant with God. So, what remains at this point in the story? People need to inhabit the city. Scripture text is Nehemiah 11:1-12:26.

  • Brothers, what shall we do? - Nehemiah 9:1-37

This morning we continue our study verse by verse through the Old Testament book of Nehemiah. After being confronted with the Word of the Law of God, the people of God have rediscovered obedience. Now, on the 24th day of the same month, they gather together for large-scale repentance and prayer. The remarkable effect of the Word of God on the people of God is not confined to ancient times, but it is just as powerful today. Scripture text is Nehemiah 9:1-37.

  • Rebuilt by the Word - Nehemiah 8:1-18

This morning we continue our study verse by verse through the book of Nehemiah. We have reached a transition in the text. Up to this point the focus has been on rebuilding the wall to protect the people from physical threats. Now the text shifts its focus to rebuilding the people of God according to the Word of God. Ezra the priest and scribe reenters the picture to facilitate the spiritual renewal of the people. Scripture text is Nehemiah 8:1-18.

  • When the work is done, it has just begun - Nehemiah 6:15-7:73

Today we continue our study verse by verse through the book of Nehemiah. The wall has been completed in record time. There are still rumbles of opposition. Leadership is appointed to give order to the people. The people are accounted for. Gifts are given to establish and protect purity in worship practices. In all these things, the hand of God is evident. Scripture text is Nehemiah 6:15-7:73a.

  • Spiritual Warfare, part 3 - Nehemiah 6:1-14

This morning we continue our study verse by verse through the book of Nehemiah. Spiritual warfare and opposition can take many forms, but it should come as no surprise that the enemy attempts to halt the work of God. Nehemiah demonstrates his dependence on God as he leads the people with honor and distinction. Scripture text is Nehemiah 6:1-14.
