Dr. Roger Hanlon is a diving biologist who studies rapid adaptive coloration in
cephalopods (squid, cuttlefish, octopus) and fishes. Learning the mechanics and functions of color changes has led to collaborations with materials scientists and engineers to develop new classes of materials that change appearance based on the pigments and reflectors in cephalopod skin.
