Research reflects that school system planning and leadership are vital to the improvement of student performance. This session will highlight the importance of strategic planning to focus the attention of the entire school system on the needs of its mathematics program. Dr. King will show the significance of the involvement of community members and other stakeholders in strategically planning for student achievement.

We are hosting the participants of NCSM’s Fellows Program: Fellow John Fischer, K-12 Math Facilitator for Greeley-Evans School District 6,  Fellow Dr. Johnny Stitts, Secondary Math Specialist Jonesboro Public Schools, Fellow Nancy Smith Math Specialist in Compton Unified School District, and Mentor Dr. John Staley, Coordinator for Baltimore County Public Schools and Past President of NCSM. We also welcome Judy Dunmire, NCSM Inspiration Editor, Director of Instructional Support for the Integrated State Partnership Team at Instruction Partners, and President Arkansas Association of Math Leaders, who works with Dr. Buck to support this pilot of the mentor program. They will share how the program came about, why they have chosen to participate, what they have already experienced and what they hope to get out of the program.
