Description:

One might believe that if you deviate from the path of medicine that is laid out in front of you, you will fail, well Dr. Sonia Bahlani is living proof that this is in fact, the opposite from the truth. When life derailed her plans and when someone told her there wasn’t a career in that type of practice, Dr. Bahlani, found a way. Dr. Bahlani is an assistant professor, board certified Obstetrician and Gynecologist who specializes in Urological and Gynecological Pelvic Pain in New York. Dr. Bahlani completed her Bachelors and her Medical Degree from the Virginia Commonwealth School of Medicine in an 8year combined program, and a residency and fellowship in OB/GYN and Urology, respectively, at NYP/Weill Cornell Medical Center. Dr. Bahlani is a leader and innovator in the field of pelvic pain and is an advocate for removing the stigma associated with pelvic pain for both men and women. In this interview, we dive deep discussing her path to medicine, her failures along the way, why it is important to stay true to yourself, what recommendations she gives to female and male physicians who are suffering from pelvic pain or who work with colleagues who suffer, and her interest in the role of nutrition on pelvic pain and other urological issues. In this episode, Dr. Bahlani brings all the energy and motivation you will need to fire you up about medicine.
