Many spiritual teachers recognize that it often requires deep darkness and despair before humans awaken spiritually. Why does it happen this way? We may never understand in this life, but many times it occurs spontaneously, causing a shift in consciousness, allowing those who suffer to begin moving with an enlightened presence. 

Stella Blessing experienced this. From her earliest memories as a child, she battled behavioral and emotional issues. The darkness grew inside until she finally woke up. Just as she was feeling like there was no path forward, she asked the higher power for help. What happened next transformed her life and she has since been living a sober, healthy and productive existence.
