Today marks the final day of the 87th Legislative Session.
Expect that both chambers will generally participate in final corrections of bills only.
Unfolding Drama Last Night
The majority of Texas House Democrats participated in "quorum-busting" near the end of deliberations on SB 7, the omnibus election integrity bill.
HB 1987 - State Rep. Cody Vasut (R–Angleton)/State Sen. Larry Taylor (R–Friendswood) - "Resign to Run" bill was returned to its normal form after activists took issue with the conference committee report.
Priorities That Didn't Make the Cut
SB 7 - State Sen. Bryan Hughes (R–Mineola)/State Rep. Briscoe Cain (R–Deer Park) - Omnibus election integrity bill. House did not adopt conference committee report due to deadline and "quorum-busting" by House Democrats.
HB 20 - State Rep. Andrew Murr (R–Junction)/State Sen. Joan Huffman (R–Houston) - Omnibus bail reform bill. House did not adopt conference committee report due to deadline and "quorum-busting" by House Democrats.
HJR 4 - State Rep. Kyle Kacal (R–College Station)/State Sen. Joan Huffman (R–Houston) - Bail reform. House did not adopt conference committee report due to deadline and "quorum-busting" by House Democrats.
HB 3 - State Rep. Dustin Burrows (R–Lubbock)/State Sen. Brian Birdwell (R–Granbury) - Emergency powers reform bill. Died in Conference Committee.
Final Status of Texas GOP Legislative Priorities: (Reference)
Election Integrity: Omnibus bill dead. Two smaller ones passed.
Religious Freedom: Several bills passed.
Children & Gender Modification: All bills are dead.
Abolition of Abortion: All bills are dead.
Constitutional Carry: Passed and sent to governor for his consideration.
Monument Protection: Weakest one passed.
School Choice for All: All bills are dead.
Ban Taxpayer-Funded Lobbying: All bills are dead.
