In today's message, Pastor Jack teaches us that the fear of the Lord is a misunderstood idiom, but it is actually a godly reverence that draws us closer to God and places us in a protective "safe zone," as seen in Jeremiah 32:40 where God puts this fear in our hearts so we will not depart from Him. He explains that this healthy fear, unlike demonic fear, is a good fear that motivates us to obey God's Word quickly and treat our relationship with Him with the utmost seriousness, because His Word has two sides—blessings for obedience and consequences for neglect. We learn that this reverence is His treasure that keeps our blessings secure from the enemy, and it is the key to walking in God's will, just as Jesus did. Pastor Jack encourages us to have a healthy concern, not worry, and to work out our salvation with "fear and trembling," meaning we should obey God promptly. He clarifies that while sins can lead to weakness, sickness, or even premature death, only the rejection of Christ leads to eternal damnation. Finally, he emphasizes the power of our words, teaching that we must get God's Word in our mouths and keep it there until it registers in our hearts, for as we speak it in faith—even in desperate situations—it will bring life and success, just as Joshua was instructed to do.
