With the recent press announcement that DJI trialled their drone-to-phone tech (called Remote ID), in a park in Toronto over the last couple of weeks - we thought it was worth pulling together a bit of guidance on how some of the currently available aviation 'sensing' and 'location' technologies work... These systems allow aircraft to let people know where they are without the requirement for radar and no-doubt help[ improve safety in the skies.

But why is this important for us to know as drone operators? Well, we're under increasing scrutiny from other airspace users AND some of the tech is already being implemented into enterprise level drones... We're expecting to see the move across to all drones, regardless fo size, being required to hold some level of 'electronic conspicuity' in the next few years too...

So, grab a brew and get to know your 'EC' from your 'FLARM' and your ADS-B in from your ADS-B IN/OUT! ;)
